Wanting the blank leaf a1.
The margins of several leaves in the last two gatherings have been cut away. Leaves a3, a8, and h1 repaired.
Binding: Blind-tooled English sprinkled calf, c.1700. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at the head of the upper cover. The gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers; mottled red-edged leaves.
Size: 308 × 213 × 17 mm.
Size of leaf: 302 × 202 mm.
In gathering a, frequent annotations in a seventeenth-century hand, including corrections to the text; also some early marginal notes, including titles, extraction of key words, ‘nota' marks and pointing hands, and a note on h3r in a c.1500 hand. On h8v a note in a c.1500 Italian hand, with incipit ‘Hospes et deico paulum est asta ac pellige hic est sepulcrum . . .’
Provenance: Edward Bernard (1638-1697); not identified in Wanley's list. Presumably among the books purchased in 1697 from Bernard's widow.
