Wanting sheet t4.5, leaf x1, and the blank leaves a1 and bb8.

Binding: Eighteenth-century French gold-tooled green morocco; green and red leather labels on the spine, of which two bear the title in gilt; yellow-edged leaves; marbled pastedowns; green silk bookmark; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers.

Size: 329 × 225 × 53 mm.

Size of leaf: 320 × 215 mm.

A few notes and pointing hands in black ink in a contemporary Italian hand. Copious marginal notes in another contemporary Italian hand, in light brown ink, extracting key words and phrases, and providing corrections to the text. ‘Doubl. 113 [crossed out] 100' in the lower margin on the verso of front endleaf.

On a2r an initial ‘O' was first supplied in red, with red and green extensions into the upper and inner margins. Later a square perimeter was supplied in red and the initial painted in azure. The spaces within the square and the body of the initial are supplied in gold, decorated with punched dotting.

Very occasional early marginal annotations, including corrections to the text and 'nota' marks.

Two- to ten-line initials are supplied in alternate red and blue; paragraph marks supplied in red and blue; guide-letters in black ink.
