Without the leaf containing the register described by H. Gathering [C] is bound after the first gathering.

Binding: Nineteenth-century half calf over pasteboards covered in red paper. Sprinkled yellow- and green-edged leaves; green silk bookmark.

Size: 393 × 295 × 63 mm.

Size of leaf: 383 × 153 mm.

Late eighteenth/early nineteenth-century manuscript bibliographical information in brown ink on a rectangular paper label pasted on the front endleaf. On [a1r] sixteenth-century manuscript entries relating to the family of Ziegler of Landshut, in brown ink. Early manuscript foliation in large roman numerals in red ink: I–CCXXI.

The woodcuts are painted in several colours. Initials are supplied in red or blue; capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate; purchased in 1829 from John Cochran for £21. 0. 0; see A Catalogue of Manuscripts in Different Languages . . . Now selling by John Cochran (London, 1829), no. 557, and note in pencil on first front endleaf: ‘Mr. Cochrane's Catalogue No. 557 £21. 0. 0.’ Bequeathed in 1834.

Provenance: George Spencer-Churchill, 5th Duke of Marlborough (1766-1840). Algernon Perkins (fl. 1865)(?). Francis Douce (1757-1834); note, in Douce's hand, tipped in behind the woodcuts: ‘Laire wrong in making these different from my Lyons edition. These 2 are from the vol that had 4 in a page formerly Ld Blandford's, now Mr Perkins's. They were duplicates'. Bequeathed in 1834.
