[a2r] Sulpitius Verulanus, [Johannes]: De versuum scansione. ‘De versuum scansione, de syllabarum quantitate, de heroici carminis decoro et uitiis, de pedibus et diuersis generibus carminum precepta, deque illorum conexionibus obseruationes [addressed to] Cyprianus Homagius. Incipit: ‘Castalios latices et amena uireta sororum | Si peragrare cupis iam tibi pando fores'; 2 elegiac distichs followed by prose, with explicit ‘Sulpitium plectra lyramque gero'. Binding: Eighteenth/nineteenth-century Italian gold-tooled half red morocco over marbled pasteboards; bound for Boutourlin. Green-edged leaves.

Size: 195 × 135 × 15 mm.

Size of leaf: 190 × 124 mm.

Some of the initial leaves have the syllables of the text marked in brown ink, with dots and lines (measuring the quantities). A few marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, in a sixteenth-century hand in brown ink.
