Leaf [cum]8v, colophon l. 5: ‘ . . . | Marcii' (not as IGI).

Binding: Fifteenth- or sixteenth-century(?) blind-tooled southern French/Italian calf over wooden boards with slightly bevelled edges, rebacked. Two clasps removed. On both covers double fillets form a triple frame, the first two frames intersecting. Within the outer frame alternate rosette and small rose stamps. Within the inner frame a fleur-de-lis block stamp. The inner rectangle is divided by double fillets into lozenge-shaped compartments, each containing a fleur-de-lis stamp. The title in gilt on a leather label on the spine. ‘287' manuscript label at the base of the spine.

Size: 311 × 210 × 39 mm.

Size of leaf: 300 × 208 mm.

Unidentified leaf from a dictionary printed in Silber's 92 G, including the text: ‘Stematon tumor mollis carnis, Stemon est litus angustum, Stephanus stephane grece latine dicitur coronam unde stephanus . . .' Reverse imprint of leaf from a chronicle, now lost, formerly affixed to rear pastedown.

Some marginal and interlinear annotations to Andria in an early sixteenth-century north European hand, mainly extracting key words and phrases from the text and commentary, and supplying synonyms, rhetorical terms, and underlining.

Provenance: Matheus (fifteenth century), of Italy; inscription ‘Mathei' on the front pastedown. Leonardus (sixteenth century), of Italy; ‘Leonardus S[ancti . . .]' Jacob Feret (fl. c.1500); inscription on a1r: ‘Jacobus Feretus est verus posessor istius voluminis'.
