Frequent marginal notes in a sixteenth-century French hand, mainly extracting key words and supplying synonyms, pointing hands, and three dots and tail.

Initials are supplied in red or blue in the text; paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue in the commentary.

Binding: Seventeenth-century English (Oxford) blind-tooled calf. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at head of upper cover. Four ties lost. On both covers triple fillets form two frames; within these a double border is formed by an ornamental roll stamp, lettered ‘G. K.'; see Gibson, Early Oxford Bindings, pl. xxxviii, no. xii. Within the inner rectangle a large lozenge is formed by a double border, with the four corners touching the fillets of the inner frame. The title in gilt on a red leather label on the spine. Sprinkled red-edged leaves. The gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers.

On front pastedown a late sixteenth-century or early seventeenth-century indenture, apparently referring to an Oxford College ‘This Indenture Made the seventh [ ] | of the faythe etc. Betwene Gyles Swett of the pary[sh] [ ] | partie. Wytnessethe that the said Gyles Swett [ ] | to farme lett unto the said James Hewett all those hi[ ] | tenures of John Hall and John Ware or their assigne[ ] | nowe in the occupa[ci]on of Amy Wyan's, Wydowe, on the Sowthe syde [ ] | abutteth theare on the west uppon a piece of grounde called the Beamont late in th[e] [ ] | with the said well, Backsyde and two gardens with all and singuler theire commody[ties] [ ] | tharchangell nowe next comyng after the daye of the date of theise present Indenture[s] [ ] | yelding and paying thearefore yearelie during Nyntene the first yeare [ ] | lawfull Inglishe money at two the most usuall feastes or dayes of payment in the year [ ] | after any of the said feastes by even and equall porcions and yelding and paying | Mychaell the archangell [ ] be lawfullie demaunded. Very few marginal notes, including the note in Arnold John's hand on F8v: ‘Ite in orbem uniuuersum et predicate ducentes alle(?) sui crediderit'.

On b1r a four-line initial ‘S', and on the following few leaves containing Andria, other two-line initials are supplied in red.
