Incipit: ‘[Q]uoniam secundum Platonem nihil est ortum sub sole cuius causa legitima non precessit . . .’ The anonymous commentator states that ‘ . . . causa efficiens scientie huius libri dicitur fuisse magister Theobaldus doctor et episcopus qui istum librum simplicibus uerbis composuit'.

Binding: Nineteenth-century half red roan over blue marbled pasteboards, with title gold-tooled along the spine.

Size: 200 × 137 × 6 mm.

Size of leaf: 193 × 128 mm.

A few marginal notes, mainly ‘nota' marks and extraction of key words, in a contemporary hand, in brown ink. The upper corner of a1 cut out.

Initials are supplied in red; capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834.
