Two parchment leaves, containing a fourteenth/fifteenth-century manuscript text, have been removed from the inside covers, leaving the impression of the text on the wooden boards. Strips from similar manuscripts still visible in the binding.

Manuscript corrections to the text of Imitatio Christi in a contemporary German hand, apparently that of the rubricator. A few other corrections in a later, humanist hand. Some early folio numbering in red crayon in the lower margin of the rectos. ‘8 cr.' in brown ink, in an early hand, on [*1r], ‘12' possibly in the same hand, in the lower right-hand corner. A gathering of five paper leaves is bound at the end; it has been ruled to contain an index in two columns, with a letter of the alphabet, in red ink, at the head of each, but it was not completed.

Initials, paragraph marks, and chapter heading underlining are supplied in red; capital strokes in red.
