Binding: Contemporary blind-tooled pigskin, very worn, over wooden boards; on the upper cover the initials Y B stamped. With two metal clasps and catches; rebacked in 1954. ‘B 189' in brown ink on a square paper label at the tail of the spine.
Size: 145 × 118 × 39 mm.
Size of leaf: 134 × 90 mm.
A few notes in German and in Latin in Kesler's hand on z6v and z7r-v, in brown and green ink.
Initials are supplied in red.
Provenance: Johannes Kesler (sixteenth century); inscription on z6v and z7r: ‘Das buch ist Johannis Kesler'. Irsee, Bavaria, Benedictines, S. Maria; printed label: ‘Zur R. Stift Irrseischen Biblioteck'. Augsburg, Bavaria, Staats- und Stadtbibliothek, probably 1833; old shelfmark: ‘8° Ink. 38' written in pencil on the rear pastedown and on a printed label pasted on the spine. Acquired in 1960 by exchange from the Staats- und Stadtbibliothek, Augsburg, the exchange value being DM 300; see ‘Bodley's American Friends', BLR 6,6 (1961), 642-3.
