Wanting the blank leaf 68.

Binding: Contemporary wooden boards backed with pigskin blind-tooled with a repeated floral stamp. Two catches and clasps lost. ‘S. Thome' in black ink along the fore-edge. Leather index tabs. Strips from a thirteenth-century glossed manuscript are visible in the binding; also two small pieces of an early printed text.

Size: 293 × 215 × 70 mm.

Size of leaf: 283 × 202 mm.

Occasional marginal notes, mainly extracting key words and adding ‘nota' marks, in an early German hand in brown ink.

Main initials are supplied in interlocked red and blue. Other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue.

Provenance: Kaspar Faber (fifteenth century), of the collegiate church of S. Vitus, Freising, Bavaria; inscription on a1r: ‘Caspar Faber Con. Sti. Viti Frisingae'. Paulus Sudlandt(?) (fifteenth century); erased inscription on the front endleaf: ‘Liber magistri Pauli [Sudlandt?]'. On the same leaf: ‘Est mei Johannis [ ]' erased. Michael Hierschauer (fl. 1645-64); inscription on the same leaf: ‘Michael Hierschauer cappelanus in Furst sum uocatus anno 1645'. Daniel Holzmayr (seventeenth century); inscription on the same leaf: ‘Ex dono domini Danielis Holzmayr ciuis: Monac: Senat: ac mercatoris pro noua fundatione in Bauaria'. Schongau, Bavaria, Discalced Carmelites; inscription on the same leaf: ‘Conuent: Schongau: Carmel: Discalc:', and on a1r: ‘Conuentus Schongauiani Carmel: Discal:'. Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; ‘Duplum' in brown ink on front endleaf and ‘Inc. Typ. No. 1961' in brown ink on the verso of the same leaf. Acquired between 1847 and c.1892, probably in 1850; not in Catalogus (1843) with Appendix.
