On A3r a transcription of the Greek alphabet with its pronunciation. More marginal notes, mainly extracting key concepts, in an early German hand. On &9v bibliographical notes referring to German astronomical texts of the second half of the sixteenth century.

A variant: in the colophon the name of the printer has been substituted for that of Michael Manzolus Parmensis, who commissioned the edition; see BMC.

Binding: Eighteenth-century(?) quarter parchment over pasteboards also covered in parchment; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. Author's name and imprint information in brown ink at the head of the spine; green silk bookmark.

Size: 288 × 205 × 70 mm.

Size of leaf: 284 × 204 mm.

‘7449' and ‘415' in brown ink on the front pastedown. Numerous marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, in the owner's humanist hand, in red and brown ink. An unusual ‘nota' mark on E9v. On &10r the following note/verse in the owner's hand: ‘En balestra latro discorp[ ] pendet ab unco [ ](?) discit | Et magis in festum regnat in urbe malum | Ad vada nunc buffo pestis monstrosa marinus | Insidet et tutum carpe viator iter'.

Provenance: Master Johannes de Liniaco [i.e. Legnago, Verona] (fifteenth century); inscription on A2r: ‘Magistri Ioannis de Liniaco'. Purchased in Florence via D. A. Talboys, Oxford, for £0. 15. 0; see Books Purchased (1832), 23, and Library Bills (1829-32), no. 446.
