Provenance: Defaced nineteenth-century book label of a Madrid bookseller is pasted on the verso of the front endleaf: Libreria | de | (?) Sanchez | (?)tas 23 | Madrid'. Purchased for Fl. 85 from Martinus Nijhoff, Catalogue 295 (1899), no. 506 ‘Salamanca'; see Library Bills, 12 Dec. 1899 [an almost identically worded entry appears in Catalogue 293 (1899), no. 2765, for what is clearly the same copy; it was not purchased from this catalogue (as Sheppard had assumed), because it is not listed on the Bodleian's ‘Form for examination of booksellers' and sale-catalogues' which is pasted into the Library's copy of the sale catalogue); it would appear that this item did not sell in Catalogue 293, so was readvertised in Catalogue 295, from which it was purchased by the Library.
