Binding: Eighteenth-century half calf, the spine gold-tooled, over marbled pasteboards. Red-edged leaves. Marbled pastedowns.
Size: 278 × 195 × 18 mm.
Size of leaf: 272 × 180 mm.
‘xxi' in black ink on the upper margin of a2r. A few marginal notes, mainly extracting key words and providing corrections to the text, in German, and ‘nota' marks in an early German hand in brown ink. Also a few paragraph marks in red.
Provenance: Carl Rhuen (fifteenth/sixteenth century); inscription on g8v: ‘Carl Rhuen von Nurnberg Inn Wien bey Gilgen Feuchter Zuerfragen'. London, British Museum; red oval purchase stamp; shelfmarks ‘790.l.25'; ‘IB.6001'; T. A. Birrell suggests in a private letter of 23 Jan. 1999 that it was probably purchased after 1837; duplicate. Transferred to the Bodleian in Oct. 1913; see ‘List of Duplicate Incunabula' (Library Records c. 1054), no. 1.
