Binding: Nineteenth-century half calf over marbled paper boards; bound for Kloß. Stubs of index tabs on c2, e4, g5, i7, m3, o4, q3 (torn away), and s5.

Size: 311 × 230 × 34 mm.

Size of leaf: 300 × 203 mm.

Frequent marginal notes in at least three contemporary north European hands, mainly supplying comments on the text (especially on historical persons, e.g. on i2r: ‘Artemisia uiro suo defuncto . . . sepulchrum instituit adeo ut septem miraculis operibus par uideri possit . . .'), and references to other passages, glosses, paraphrases, three dots and tail, brackets, and corrections to the text. On the front endleaf and a1r one of the north European hands has added a manuscript table following that found in Mainz: Peter Schoeffer, 14 June 1471 (V‑007): ‘Abstinere libro quarto capitulo tercio per totum . . .' On the front pastedown the pencilled bookseller's number ‘3107-372'.

On a3r a six-line initial ‘U' is supplied in blue with reserved white decoration. Elsewhere two- to four-line initials, paragraph marks, and underlining are supplied in red or blue. Capital strokes are supplied in red.

Provenance: Matthaeus Herbenus (1451-1538); inscription on a1r: ‘Mathei Herbeni Rector[is] Scolariu[m] b[ea]ti S[er]uatij'. Philippus Vaecx (sixteenth century?); inscription on a3r: ‘Ex libris D. Philippi Vaecx alias foxy'. Maastricht, Brabant, Beghards, SS. Bartholomeus et Michael; inscription on a3r: ‘Bibliothecae PP. Beggard. Traj'.
