[a2r] Valla, Laurentius: Raudensianae notae. ‘Invectiva in Antonium Raudensem' [addressed to] Johannes ‘Lucina' [i.e. Olzina], secretary to king Alphonsus. Incipit: ‘[I]ntellexi Ioannes cum alias non nunquam tum uero impraesentiarum accidere . . .’ Olzina's name as dedicatee only appears in the printed editions, while the work was originally dedicated to Johannes Tortellius, as it is evident from the manuscript tradition; see M. Regoliosi, ‘Due nuove lettere di Lorenzo Valla', Italia medioevale e umanistica, 25 (1982), 151-88, at 175; at 169-71 the edition of the opening.

Binding: Nineteenth-century half calf over marbled pasteboards; marbled pastedowns. Binder's label partially removed from the verso of the front endleaf. ‘R' in black ink along the lower edge, also author's name and title along the fore-edge.

Size of leaf: 202 × 133 mm.
Copious marginal notes, washed, mainly extracting key words, in a humanist hand in light brown ink. On s7r, below the colophon: ‘Apud Dominicum . . .' in faded brown ink, in a humanist hand, probably slightly later.
